My Muse must be working over time today!! This is inspired after I finally let my best friend know I how felt (lol in an email) couldn't call her, she's always out with some other friends, on the way to a club, without me.. Pack rat Holding onto the faint fumes Of memories Long gone, long past Believe me My heart hangs in disappoint That this friendship didn't last Each time I would call You were out on the town Always making promises That we would finally See each other again Each time I tried to express The feelings of being left behind You just sat there and denied my tears So why exactly Were we holding on? Both pack rats As I stated before Unwilling to let go And go through that open door To our separate ways I truly believe It's for the best You weren't really there for me Because after he broke up with you You began to lose touch with your heart's reality Your words of friendship No longer hold their value Or even hold my attention anymore I don't regret Sharing each others thoughts and dreams But now I'm ready to walk through that door I wish you the best in life And pray for you each night That you will someday, understand who you really are... I have friends like that..Its funny how we thought we would be best friends forever, and we turn out only smiling at eachother in the halls. She took a turn for popularity, and I stayed the same (or at least I think I did!) Sorry to hear about you and your friend. Obviously by doing this she's masking how upset she is over her boyfriend. People do strange things when they're hurting. Don't forget that. I liked the idea of a pack rat. Quite creative of you. It sums up the situation fairly well with a decent amount of originality.  Thanks for sharing.
