“Starlight Serenade”

The snow falls down
Gently sweeping to the earth
A hard winter wind cuts through me
But I hardly notice it

My gaze is fixed upon the heavens
Trying to see the stars
Through the snow and the clouds
From whence it came

Buts it’s of no use
They sky remains the same
As the snow comes down
More quickly then before
Shrouding my view even more

The winds come again
Piercing at my very heart
I think of you
And how much like that wind you are
Invisible, untouchable
Yet you went out of your way
To hurt my heart, or so its seems

I turn the corner
Letting the wind flow by
And with it all thoughts of you

Once more
I turn my gaze towards the heavens
Hoping once more to see
Some sign of starlight
Shining through the night
But alas the clouds grew darker
And the snow became denser

I sigh
Moving on
Keeping mind
To stay out of the wind

Through the darkened alleys
And forgotten paths of the wold I wander
Always looking upward hoping to see
A shining star held within the darkened night
But always finding the clouds and the snow
More impenetrable then before
So I move on
Not quite knowing
Where it is I’m headed
Stooping here and there
To rest along the way
So that I may see the starlight
Shining down from the sky above
Like a beacon guiding me home
Taking me away from you
And to the arms of another
To a place where I may find true love
But this is only another
Of my worthless dreams
Yet it is the only thing
That keeps me going on

So I move through
This eternal blackened night
Searching for the sound of light
To play upon my heart
Shining down from the heavens
In the form of a shining star
From the highest parts of heaven
To replace this wintry hell
With a summers twilight
With but a note of its beautiful song

I have heard its song
From deep within my dreams
Pushing me onward
To the very edge of this world
And beyond
In a useless quest
To find the other piece of me
To find true loves resting-place
Beyond the savage refuse of the wasteland

Many a time I tried to turn back
Telling myself
That I would never find the one
Of which the stars sang of in my dreams
But I am lulled by its sweet tones
And trudge onward
Through this wretched realm
Moving onward
Only because of the hope
Held within my fragile dreams
In hope of finding the one
Who stand within the light
Of that shining star
So that I may be complete
And forever hear
The beautiful sound
Of the starlight’s serenade.

I can relate to your words, and it's always a good thing when I can actually say been there done that..I think everyone is on that same quest..and sometimes I feel like I'll never find it because it's like I'm in search of the Holy grail..but nontheless good job..

A long write....I don't usually read long ones...(YEs, I'm THAT lazy..lol) but for some darling lil reason I continued...Glad I did too...I must say I rather liked it...Could use a few critiques, yes, but what poem couldn't?

I like it. It is very powerful.

I give a whole new meaning to the word 'sad.'
