I Can't Remember the last time I felt so alive...
Can't remember when my hopes were so high
Can't remember the last time I believed in a wish
Because they never came true (not until this)

I Can't Remember the last time I had so many doubts
Can't remember when I wasn't looking for an "out"
Can't remember the last time when I trusted my heart so much
Not until this...not until "us"

I Can't Remember the last time I thought I would be with you
It was so long ago and the times seemed so few
But now it is the only thing that weighs on my mind
Can't remember the last time I thought you might be mine

I can only remember the times when you broke my heart
I've gotten used to the idea of you and I being apart
I've found comfort in consistency and my lackadaisical attitude about love
Hate the idea of thinking about things I recently haven't thought of

I Can't Remember the last time I wanted something so bad
Can't remember the last time I thought about you (and it didn't make me sad)
I can only remember all the times you've let me down
All the times I've been there, but you haven't stuck around

I'm sorry, but I don't know if I want to bring all those memories back
Content in my life and all the things it lacks
I wish I didn't want you...want to be with you
But I can't remember when that was ever true

"Time really does fly by and no one knows where it goes, so if you have something to say or do, say or do it now."

Getting over it is the hardest part... the memories are always there.  At first they're painful, or course, but you'll be at the point someday when you can look back with a smile

I enjoyed this poem.  I liked the longer lines.  I love poetry that is intensely honest.. and you did a fine job with that.

Well done.  I look forward to more

*Sigh* I think there are some things that are best left where it belongs, in the dusty old box called "Forgotten". When recalled, they'll only bring with them more hurt. Best opened only if you're sure you're over it, and then, a recap of what happened will only serve as a lesson to be learnt.
