As the ball drops a new year begins,
But why is it such a big deal?
People act like evrything is just going to be better,
But my pain is not going to heal.

I look back at the last 365 days,
And see what is no longer there.
There is so much I've lost,
But should I even care.

I wish it was that easy,
But when I think about it I want to cry.
Most of my friends have moved away,
And it was so hard for me to say goodbye.

So why do you think everything is going to get better?
Please explain to me how you know that.
Because obiviously you don't know me,
And don't know what point in my life I'm at.

My heart is not going to get better,
So I don't care if my life ends tomorrow.
Because when I look forward to 2002,
All I see is more sorrow.

   Lauren

Oh this is so sad.
Written wonderfully!
but yeah things will get better
even though it may seem like it
never will trust me things will
look up.

I really am not looking forwards to 2002 or news years eve (tonight) because it doesnt seem to bring anything to me.

I really did enjoy your poem. keep on writing.

Darling, stick with me, and everything will be all right. *grins*

Very well written here. I hear what you're saying, but it is a new year, and a new start. Who knows? Anything could happen.

I tend to base my entire year on one stupid night. Not wise but it's usually a good indicator of how the year will go. Try to have a positive outlook on life, Lauren. yes you have your pain, yes there are some things that time itself won't heal but what will dwelling on it do? Nothing. So try to rationalise the situation you're in now and move it around to suit you. After all, being the main person in your own life sort of has that major priority...

Your first stanza should have a question mark at the end.

Thanks for sharing.

To Me New Years is a big bang for nothing in particular...  I slept the night through - again!  I agree that the turning over of a new year doesn't make me feel any different and The first of January 2002 was the worst day I have had in a while...  Great start to the year!!

Hang in there though, remember that there will be good things come out of the year and they will hold memories too.  Bad things always hold stronger, but they are the things that hurt the most too.

Everyone here at Passions is here to help...  Never forget that!!

Melster!!

You can't hurt me anymore than I have hurt myself already...

New year, new beginning... wonderful way to look at it.

I'm with Melster's insight.

Well done, Lauren... I enjoyed this
