~Black and White~

Why do they care?
They make a point to stare
What is really the difference
between you and I?
It hurts so much
I just wanna’ break down, and cry
They say were from
2 different worlds,
But really were just tryin
to make it through
Life’s up and downs
I don’t see a difference
except you’re a guy,
But to me color means nothing
I wouldn’t care if you
were purple or blue,
I wish everyone felt
the same way I do.
We all bleed the same blood
There for were all the same
People make such a big deal,
I just shrug my shoulders,
Tryin’ to keep it real
I wish every one
would just let it go
I just look at them
right in the eye
When they stare at us
I just want you to know
No matter what they think
I will always love you,
You make things so right,
remember we are all the
same color when you turn
out the lights
so what people think
won't change my mind.
I think we can make it...
Yes...I believe everything
will turn out fine

I wrote this poem because i am in a relationship
right now...And the guy i am with is black
my family doesn't agree with it... But you see
i can't help who i fall in love with....
Please tell me what your thoughts of the poem are
and also what your views of interacial dating are... Thank You

Colour is nothing! I don't understand how people can be so insecure as to have an aversion to interacial dating. It'd be like telling the brown cow to not mate with the black and white one. Ridiculous!

As for your piece, it explains your frustration and pain very well. I hope to see more from you soon. Remember to reply as well as post.

Hey, what's up, how are you? Just read your poem amd I thought that it was awesome.  You should not worry about what people think of your relationship, as long as it makes you happy that is all that matters!  It saddens me to know that we still live in a world where people look at the color of ones skin and not the content of their character, it all goes back to what Dr. King preached about, I mean have we not learned anyhting?
Well your poem was an inspiration to many including myself!  Pray about it and continue to express your feelings, the number one way to really make this work is for the both of you to have an open and mutual relationship with Christ because we all know that all things are possible through Him.  Hope everything works out for the best, but if not maybe God has something more divine for you!!  Good luck and may God continue to bless you and your loved ones.

As the old saying goes, love is blind.  "We're the same color when you turn out the lights."  so true.  If you're happy, that's what matters.  Parents won't always understand, but oh well.  Hope things go well

For now, all I can do is dream.
