They say that its better
to have loved and lost
then to never have
loved at all

My heart begs to differ
as does the moonlit sky
both show desperation
and darkness within
burning cravings for something
of nothing to begin
The lengthy shadows on the wall
bring tears of devotion
and broken feelings of plenty
Eternal thoughts and dying hopes
Shatter the nights serenity
and destroy the secrets dwindling in
A rocky road of uncertainty
leading the path to a secret
and untimely end
for life to sometime begin anew
you live,
you love,
you lose,
you cry,
but through it all you're supposed
to somehow learn
that things aren't always
what they in fact seem to be
I lived, loved, lost, and cried
and it would have been better
to have never loved at all.

~*~This poem is not of recent events, and not even how I necessarily feel. Just a random thought and ranting of my discretion. Thanks for reading...~*~

i love this poem and I also know your pain. love can hurt but i still think the old saying is true. but you are one lucky girl to live where you do. I hope to live there one day.

Yea I definitely agree with you on this one!! Whoever said it's better to lose love than never love at all, they were very very wrong!!!  Although it hurts, hopefully you will get over it and move on.  And maybe, just maybe, the next love will be the one that makes losing it worth while.  I wish you the very best, and hang in there.

Its so ironic..i was just asked the question whether i would have rather loved and lost than to never have loved at all. this poem expressed exactly how i feel. great job   i loved the emotion.

ha, that's the question I've been asking myself which gives me no answer at all! I'm still searching...

Good write!

This is beautiful. But I have to agree with you, I'm not sure that it is better to have love and lost than never to have loved at all.

oh my...i just experienced this this past summer and it took me about three months to get over all the feelings you described in this piece. this really spoke to me...beautiful

"Eternal thoughts and dying hopes
Shatter the nights serenity
and destroy the secrets dwindling in
A rocky road of uncertainty"

Now that is great writing
