An Angel's Suffering

Malevolent words piercing
the very air you breathe,
as people around you
shout out and seethe.

Such violent attacks
on an innocent face,
torment your compassion
and disrupt your grace.

Judgemental surroundings
cage your potential,
forcing you out
into the unconfidential.

Manipulating authorities
convince to you conform,
little are they aware
you will never transform.

Unappreciated deeds
even for the undeserving,
they abuse your kindness
while you aren't observing.

The painful labor
they put you through,
injures your body
with rewards long overdue.

Not a soul listens
to the words you express,
it all builds up inside
causing more and more stress.

They don't seem to care
when you're not the faulted,
its easier to blame you
as the guilty are exalted.

Your wings have been clipped
and your soul has been caged,
because of your perfection
those around you are enraged.

But your angelic smile
still shines in the night,
though only in your dreams
will you take flight.

One day will come
and you will be free,
instead of being trapped
here next to me.

~Alicia~

Thanks for the help on this one, Adam, couldn't have done it without You.

Liefhe alle ten spijte van duivel.

It's admirable to see you seeking improvement in the eyes of your peers, as far as poetry is concerned.  Whether or not Adam did help on this poem, the innermost thoughts are constant and consistent.
This poem is thick with a remorseful helplessness.  The title is completely perfect.
I'll have to say this is my favourite poem so far on this forum.

This was just absolutely amazing!!!!  It was so sad, yet powerful, and I just loved it!! You've done an incredible job, and this one is going into my library.
