I got a call today,
A friend of mine is dead.
His heart stopped,
Why didn’t any of us die instead?

Everyone knew this guy,
And we ridiculed him.
Now he’s gone…
The lights’ve gone so dim.

He deserved to live,
He wasn’t a bad guy,
Did our jests kill him?
Why’d he have to die?

A friend of mine died yesterday from a heart attack..I found out 20 minutes ago. He had heart problems from birth. Rest in peace Kourtney..

In your poem it says you knew the guy but rideculed him.......i mean it's a horrible thing that he died, but was he your friend...and if so why would people ridecule him?

Anyway, if he was your friend then my condolences....but i have seen the case in which a person dies, even if the person made fun of that person their whole life...all of a sudden they are "friends.

No mean to say this poem was unfelt and wrong.......in fact it was very heartfelt...i've had more than 3 friends die on me.....but something i couldn't handle was that the people who made their life a living hell all of a sudden cared...

anyway, nicely done.

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

Kourtney wasn't a real close friend of mine...but we'd shared classes for over six years. He lived just down the road from me and rode the same bus.

People ridiculed him because he was bisexual. I'm even guilty of it before I got to know him.

its devastating when ANYBODY you know passes away. this is certainly no exception. well done on this one adam, like javier said, very heartfelt.

I'm really sorry to hear about the loss.
Well you said you did redicule him before you knew him...but that's past... I liked the poem alot..series of questions that go thru the mind when you lose someone.
I hope everyones doing ok, too.

Adam, I am so sorry for the loss of this person. The pain of losing someone, anyone, never goes away and I hope that you can deal with it alright. There are many people around here you can talk to if you need to.

Keep your head up and remember that whatever hand we get dealt in life, challenges like this test us and will in the end, make us stronger people....

Hmmm...very heartfelt! I know the worst thing, is having conflicts with somebody... and them passing away before you can say sorry. I feel your pain...yet I can't find the words to describe it.

Sorry, I can't say anything without words to say anything...just beleive me when I say, I'm here for you buddy!

I knoew that nothing anyone can say can make you feel any better and that's normal.It will take awhile to start to recover and it's not an easy thing go deal with.But I had to go through it this summer and even though it's still hard for me to understand why I know I'll never know the answer so I try and deal with as well as I can.But I hope everything gets better for you as soon as your ready to deal with it.

Sorry to hear about your friend. It's a tragedy when anyone dies...
I have a friend that I just found out has heart problems, he has to have surgery in a couple weeks...scary stuff.
Nice poem, very expressive. Hope you're alright. I feel bad for the kid thhough, ridiculed because of sexual preferences? People can be so closed minded...
