You say I only hear when I want to,
I say that I only hear when it's important.

You say I only see when I want to see,
I say that I close my eyes to escape you.

You say I only remember the things that didn't matter,
I say that if you think they didn't matter, they mattered to me.

You say I call you every day,
I say I haven't called you in a month.

You say I'm just a girl,
I say you're just a boy, what's your point?

You say I'm just a smart ___,
I say I know I am and so are you.

You say I'll never amount to anything,
I say leave me alone.

Someone once taught me that it doesn't matter what other people think of you as long as you like yourself.  That's what I live by.

Hehe I could have found a much less nice way of telling them to "Leave me alone" if they were saying all that stuff to me but I'm glad you were kind about it  p

I think i know what song you're talking about.
It's be Lisa Lobe and it's called "You Say".
It's something like: you say, I only hear when I want to, you say, I talk all the time, and I thought what I felt was simple and I thought that I don't belong, and now that I am needed, I know that I did something wrong because I miss you, yeah, I miss you."
Or something like that.

Referring back to AngelPoet's reply about you being "nice about it" ...Haven't I taught you better than that? LMAO.
Nice write Allysa. Did you have that Lisa Lobe song in mind while writing this? I like that song. HeHe.

You wouldn't worry about what people thought about you if you knew how seldom they did.

Spice, you still have TONS to teach me!

But about my signature quote, it's something I learned from the guy in this poem.  Interesting, huh?  So maybe he's not a total jerk after all.

I really enjoyed this one, Allysa.  The beginning "You say I only hear what I want to"  made me sing a song by Alanis Morisette that begins with those lines, hehe.  Nice work.  You're really growing as a poet.. and it's showing.     Well done.

I really liked the base of comparison here. Really well done Allysa, I am quite impressed.

Impressive.  It looks rather like a speech.  I hope that whatever problem you are dealing with here is resolved soon.

A person like that should just leave you alone.
And I hope they do it too.
thanks for sharing Asylla

What an interesting piece. I really enjoyed it. This in a weird way is a lot like my brother and myself in some ways. The older one that is.
Thanks for the read. Keep sharing with us.
