“Senses”

Guiding ours bodies
Through this world
Our senses
Affect our lives
Giving them meaning
For who could live without them?

Though with time things change
These senses bring a deeper meaning
Other then mere survival
When love begins to grow
Our senses of touch
Taste
Sight
Sound
And smell
Are all pushed to the limits
When one is in love

Touch
Feelings
Barely known
Gentle as the wind
Yet reaching us deep within

Caressing your love
With an open heart
Soft as the sea
A gentle touch
To shatter the walls
Around your heart
Brining all things to light

Taste
Sweet
As honey
Upon your lips
The nectars of life
Meant to keep us alive

Tasting the purity
Of your beloved’s lips
Knowing without a doubt
That throughout time
You will never forget
The memory of their kiss

Sight
Seeing
Light unveiled
As darkness leaves
Love shinning through all
Bringing happiness when you see her

Cherubic features
Cast upon this mortal land
Fallen from the heavens
You see your love
You heart, you soul
Standing before you
With more beauty then
A thousand stars

Sound
Voice
Like chimes
Upon the wind
Graceful sounds you hear
Sending shivers down your spine

Echoes of eternity
Ricocheting off your soul
Hearing a voice so serene
That it can bring your racing heart
Down to peaceful beat.

Smell
Fragrant
As flowers
Beautiful and free
Dwelling upon the hills
Their aroma upon the breeze

They guide us through
The world before us
Attending to our lives
But when Love strikes
Deep within our hearts
Delving to the most inner
Reaches of our souls
Each sense is enhanced
Beyond our understanding
All we can know
Are  the feelings that they bring
And the love that we have

I'll say...*sigh*
Awesome write here! I'm in awe. It was so beautiful, so descriptive.  Just incredible writing here! I don't even know what to say I'm so impressed. LOL   I really liked how you addressed EACH sense- very creative idea here. And you balanced the poem well by making 2 stanza to describe and elaborate mor eon the sense. Very good!I want More! More I say!

You wouldn't worry about what people thought about you if you knew how seldom they did.

I'm sure Katiepoo meant it's "gorgeous."  It is rather splendid.
Nice poem, Lone Wolf.

This was awesome!

Very true words here... love pushes one to every limit there is.  Very nicely written.. the format is something that really appealed to me.. how every other stanza is pyramid-like.  Those stanzas flowed excellently.  Wonderful work, here.  I really enjoyed this one.  Keep sharing all your work!

Ooo this one I LOVE! The way you went through all the senses and the reality of love to a person was simple amazing. This is one of those better pieces that you print off. It's going through the printer.

It's also going to the library. You might want to check for spelling errors though. Read it through and you'll find them.
Great job.
