*note*: this is a poem i wrote for my best friend... i gave it to her on our last day of high school (yay we're grads!)

With footprints you leave in hearts and souls,
Each stride is taken in confidence
Your hands are stronger
Your heart a little weaker
Anxious for the future that waits you

You've touched so many hearts,
Made the world so proud
And as you embark the realm of independence
Hesitation will come to you
Only to be challenged by thoughtful decisions

Before you use to dream about flying in the sky,
But now the stars chase after you
Competing against your knowledge of reality

Spotlight the last few years,
You've grown into those feet
How fulfilling they've become,
Throughout these vital years

Tell me angel of the world
How do you get that sparkling glow,
That only Heaven provides for
How do you make it,
That you're only noticeable as a star during a sunny day

The clocks ticks away...
Closer to 12

Your fancy feet hurt to dance
You don't want this night to end
The music stops playing
And your hips stop swaying
You're the only one left on the dance floor,
You don't like this anymore

It's been a long time
This wild dance is ending
Just as another day is beginning

The only misunderstanding,
Is that once you've passed 12,
Life doesn't get any sweeter
Oh, but it does

Clock ticks past 12...

Your wishes will come true
The night will end
Just ready for prince charming to sweep you off your feet

"You do what you do, you say what you say, you try to be everything to everyone... come on now, do that stupid dance for me" -Everclear

This is a VERY good poem.  A beautiful tribute, to an obviously very special friend.  First of all, congrats about graduating!  Good luck in the future    Secondly, this poem was beautiful.  I would be honored to have something like this written for me.  In fact, I would have probably cried, but that's just me   Every word, line, and stanza was wonderfully written, and straight from the heart.  My favorite stanza was the one that began with, "Tell me angel of the world."  Such beautiful words..
Wonderful work.  I really enjoyed this, and can't wait to read more from you.
Excellently done.

Great poem!  It was beautiful.  I liked the effect given by noteing the time.  I wrote one simialr to that a few weeks ago.  I think it gives it an interesting effect.

Beautiful tribute to your friend. I am sure she loved it to pieces. great job here!

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I'm in love with my shadow
I admire it daily

I've always loved reading tribute poems to people we really do care about and who obviously care for us.  This is such a great poem.  Thanks for sharing it and I do hope to see more in the future.

Thanks for all the replies... I never really thought I could write poems in the first place. All the replies I get makes me believe more in myself.
