Eagle Scout
never was i
but both my brothers
made it that high
but i don't need
a badge or pin
to tell me
what i can accomplish
yet we label the crowd
and destroy within
and tell everyone
they can never make it.

i might not be perfect,
but at least i know
the badge today
won't last tomorrow.

I liked this one. " I don't need a badge or pin" That's really cool.

The message here is awesome.  You should never let anyone tell you what you can and cannot accomplish.  Don't let people hold you down from your dreams.
The last stanza was very good, and that really had a lot of power.  Very nice work, Scott.  I really enjoyed this...

Your critique message is very cool...just thought that should be said.

Even though this is short, the message behind it is very relevant to todays society. Thanks for the read.

Linc, i'm 19, i dropped out after being a tiger cub in first grade (Actually i moved, and then i came back and I was so far behind on all my badges in cub scouts, that i just quit, i never made it to a boy scout, hahaha!!!)

And AF, thanks, that's my view on criticizing poetry, poetry is a painting, and they can paint all sort of different pictures, and each pictures is worth 2000 words, so what we really got is a lot of ideas circulating around, English is an art, not a science.

I was a cub scout.....made it up to that Bear badge....Ummm....but that was in like 3rd grade. Anyhow nice poem. I understood it. I liked it and I loved the line about the badges....that the one you get today may not serve for tomorrow. Nicely done.

What I got from this was that you cant let material things like a badge determine how successful you can be.  But you could have had a totally different meaning.  That is what is great about poetry.  One poem can touch so many people because they all see something different in it.  Great job!
