Only Poets Noticed

by Michael

Night’s starry drapes were parted
so you could slip quietly through.

Only poets noticed that evening
how the heavens changed for a second.

Now your pen is still,
but not the hearts it stirred.

We are left with memories,
your well-crafted words,
the wish for another poem.

Sleep well, dear poet.

Beautifully written and yes I still feel I should be able to go to PIP and read his new words. A man I never met and yet I feel like I've lost a good friend.

To know that this man would smile upon you, and all poets here, goes unspoken....

for he does....

oh my...this is exceptional...
that opening line is exquisite...
the whole intend is poetic perfection
what a wonderful tribute...
you did him justice and then some...
and did it in a few perfectly chosen words.
excellent Michael.

Michael, beautiful words for a wonderful poet. Though I didn't know Wilfred I loved his poems and will miss him here.

Everyone,

I thank you, sincerely, for your responses.  I never got the opportunity to know Bill as many of you did, but I did enjoy his poetry and will miss it much.  I've heard many good things about Bill and I'm sure he's be quite pleased to know that he was held with such affection.

Michael
