"How Do I Know?"

It's true...I'm young
Perhaps I don't know much
However I know by your love
That I need your touch

I've loved a couple times
Once or twice in the past
However parts were always missing
Love simply didn't last

You ask me how I'm so sure
That you are the one for me
So today I finally
Have an answer for thee

I see our love in everything
The rising of the Moon
In the setting of the Sun
With you...my life has now thus begun

Call it faith or hope
Name it whatever you will
I just know what lives in my heart
That these feelings are true and real

This love that's in my heart
Is like nothing I've ever felt before
It's both exciting and scary
I've never wanted anything more

I feel your love so completely
For the first time I feel whole
I want to share my life with you
I love you mind, heart, and soul

Of course I have doubts
I believe that we all do
But those doubts don't minus
The depth of love I feel for you

Sometimes I feel you're pushing me away
Though you say that is not the case
I belong with you...you are my heart
Why would I want to be in another place?

You ask me about others
Why don't I give them a chance?
Over and over again
You and I do this dance

You asked me a question though
One that has left me to think many a night
What is it about YOU
That creates in me this fight

This fight for us to be together
To share a life true and long
For once in my life I feel
That I have somewhere, I belong

Somewhere in between the laughter and tears
I fell so deeply in love with you
Ours was the love from friendship
Like a rose, it blossomed and grew

I'm not saying I'll never love again
But I do know I'll never love this way
I won't dress this up Shakespeare style
However I also know this is not child's play

How is it I who is so young
Has such a deep faith in love
I just know how you make me feel
Fit like hand in glove

I know no beautiful sonnet
To "sing" or "paint" to you
Your presence I just feel with my soul
Everywhere I go, and in everything I do

I don't know if you feel the same
You tell me that you do love me indeed
Sometimes I question though
Am I truly the one you need?

Do you want me to release you
Have you tired of your love for me
Am I looking through rose colored glasses
And the truth I can not see

Or do you love me so
Like you tell me that you do
And are just scared
You're not alone...I am too

I'm scared one day I'm gonna wake up
You're not going to be there anymore
They'll be a Dear Amy letter
I'll follow the tears to the door

I look at my life, and all that has occurred
Then I look at me and you
You're like the compass I've been looking for
These words I speak are true

For you I'd go anywhere
My blood I would shed
I'd like nothing more than someday
For us to be wed

But perhaps I am the romantic fool
And I do have it all wrong
Perhaps it's the romantic in me
That keeps me following your song

I probably still haven't answered what you asked
Why is it that I think you are the one?
Well...maybe because when we fell in love
Even though 24 years passed, my life had just begun

You say this is just the beginning
That how can I just know?
You claim that you're holding me back
Freeing me from being able to grow

I think the real truth of the matter is
You're scared that you and I wont last
So you are trying to push me away
Be done with it...quick and fast

Only your heart won't let you do it
It doesn't want to let you let me go
I suppose I now have given you your answer
That is how I know

"but i see your true colors,
shining through...
i see your true colors
and that's why i love you"

You have to be a bit patient my dear, don't pull the string too tight or it will break.

For your love...you wear your heart on your sleeve...
now both need to simply trust and believe

youve said it all here amy-girl...and you spoke with your heart...sincerely and honestly...
no one can ask for more than that

Age has little to do with love, this is so full of love, Amy, you did a wonderful job of letting your heart go free.
