                Yesterday’s Footprints

  I follow
  And why,
  I do not know,
  For you have never given
  A whisper or hello.

  I follow
  Yesterday’s footprints
  In the sand.
  My heart being singed
  With each span.

  I follow
And as I do I can see,
  Revealed to me,
  Your life,
As you walk by the sea.

  I can reveal
  What yesterday’s
  Have concealed
  As I follow
  Your footprints
  In the sand.

  I feel when you walk
  Stutter step,
So gay and light on your feet,
  Maybe a dream of me.

  I feel when you run
  Fearing no one,
  The prints are deep.
  I shall not sleep
  Keeping time with you.

  I feel when you’re sad
  And drag your feet.
  My loves on its knees
  Trying to give some relief.

  I feel most
  When the footprints
  End at the sea
  Then my pain is deep
  And I shan't sleep
  Till tomorrow comes
  And your footprints
  Walk and then run
  Near the sparkling sea.

  The tide always ends
  My search for thee.
  Your footprints washed away.

  Oh, how someday
  When we shall meet
  Near the sparkling sea
  And I shall ask
  “Were you following me?”

I like this -- very nice imagery and a clever twist in the last line...  I could empathize with each description.  Well done.

This is a really lovely poem shadow, you wait and see, someday you will ask that last question and then you'll know.

Shadow, this is imaginative and different. I liked the way you ended it with a twist.
