Which are you?
Friend?
Enemy?

You hang in stoic fashion
There on the wall,
Collecting dust
Always moving your hands
In slow inescapable tedium.
Your only complaint
Chimed on the hour asking
Someone to pay attention.

You ignore the pleadings
To hurry…. Or to slow…
You measure each man that passes
With the same fairness,
Yet seem to favor those
Who become slaves to your credo…
That every second counts.

Counts…
In tick time fashion the fading
Or waxing of lives…

You stand as a hateful reminder
Of mortality and the limits
Placed by biological fault
In each of us… staring…
With placid face unchanged.

Task master, tick- tock,
Telling time…
Are you friend?
Or enemy sublime?

I say, take out the batteries -- that way, it'll only be right twice a day.  ;->

Task master, tick- tock,
Telling time…
Are you friend?
Or enemy sublime?

We are seconds slowly slipping away
until the day when our time be
comes timeless.

Cpat loved this poem.
