Should love be
this subtle labour?
An artistry
I may savour,
with sweating palms,
the first etch
on a blank psalm.

I am caressing
your curves,
in devotion I sing
a line without words,
to brush your face
and shape an image
of your grace.

And yet I work in vain,
For no line of brush
could dare attain
an essence so lush,
of you so picture perfect,
I pray you savour
all this gift attempts to reflect.

=============================

Hello Goddess.

Hello my goddess,
did you know you were an Egyptian
in a past life,
maybe even Cleopatra.
Look into the mirror
it is your eyes they have a regal gaze.
The lashes at the side point like noble eagles,
guarding the jewel that is your eyes,
two emerald suns, fiery wild and graceful.
The windows to the souls they say.
I want to drown in them, bath and cleanse myself.
It is with selfish reasoning that I love you,
you make me whole you give me worth
and all I can offer is my own person,
this confused state to which you give clarity.
I would build a tower in your honour,
the tower of Babel, that tickles the heaven's
a gleeful pink. I would bring angels to your feet
to sing for you alone, for my voice my words
fumble, no mortal can paint your portrait true.
I think maybe you fell from the stars,
I am worried you will remember its glories
and this world and me you will forget.
Hold me close, my lock of hair,
my distance skin. Whisper comfort back again.
AMen AMen AMen.

Well....when one pens of green eyes....I am immediately drawn in....

yes, all of this likes me, just as I treasure it....

so, into my special place, it goes....

but not until it stays at the top for awhile....

Mmm mmm what a sweet love poem. You can sure change styles well. Some incredible lines in here, already been pointed out, of course. Much enjoyed, Bri.

I always knew that you had it in you my friend. . .

these are both excellent. . . Picture Perfect is just that, a wonderful look at a painting of love that can never be duplicated, one that I feel, even surprises the speaker. . .

Hello Goddess I love because of the line about "emerald suns". . . you know that I've been using green and emeralds in my own work lately, and that line is just perfect. . . that and "it is with selfish reasoning that I love you. . . " that line as well just speaks of the depth of love that is being shown. . .

excellent my friend. . .

Lovely Brian!  I really enjoyed the flow and rhyme in the first writing, and love how you captured so many descriptive qualities in the second. Beautiful sentiments within each poem, much enjoyed!

Best wishes,
/Kit

James, thank you.

Decaflame, thank you kindly.

seren,"reading this poem made me levitate" wow I hope it has a similar effect on the muse who inspired it. Thanks for your very very kind reply.

Jan, my human muse never fails, nope she never fails. Thank you.

Sandra, I feel strange writing emotional poetry, of laying things bear keeping clear but in this case it is more of what my heart feels. Thanks for your reply.

dawn, well you do inspire it and please continue to make me feel this way.

Sven, thanks for the faith, I guess I just needed someone to give a reason to write this. I guess I am just a romantic fool at heart. Thank you for your very kind words.

Kit, Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
