Hanging by some threads entwined
Upon a wall with view and time
A painting sits awaiting
Both artist and the brush in rhyme
Their etching of a name to find
Amongst the colours mating

Beauty of a time to see
Some images of used to be
Remnants of once there
The artist hand, a moment caught
With desire image bought
A treasure now does share

The colours blend to almost move
The images which ease and sooth
How wonderful the gifted
Giving life to canvas bare
Giving time a gift to share
Both heart and feelings lifted

The scene serene, the artist making
A picture from the mind partaking
Canvas yearns attention
Every colour true is calling
All the rainbow shades are falling
With artist true affection

Here children play
Now passed away?
Mortals not forever
But in art
Which plays its part
The strokes of paint are dying never

The loving strokes make canvas live
To they who seek, they’ve much to give
The stokes and palettes many
A story of a now past time
Told so true with every line
Each worth a fortune, or a penny

What a wonderful picture you paint, Rick.  I look at it in awe.

this is EXCELLENT...exceptional writing
the rhyme scheme is superbly done...and the touches of inner rhyme added to its cadence pleasures...
very cool premise and view from which to write...
a poetic melding of imagery and words...
artist and poet.
impressive inspire, going to keep this one for future ponderings

Rick,

This poetry carries a deep understanding for not only the artist's interpretation of the current world he was expressing, but for the the actual relationship between soul and eternity.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here children play
Now passed away?
Mortals not forever
But in art
Which plays its part
The strokes of paint are dying never
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The only place I would have liked to pause a little longer to absorb the implications in your words was at your final line:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The loving strokes make canvas live
To they who seek, they’ve much to give
The stokes and palettes many.
A story of a now past time
Told so true with every line
Each worth a fortune...
                        or a penny.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

An extremely good write, presented in perfect meter and rhyme which always holds the readers interest, allowing the message portrayed to be absorbed fully.

Ivor

The moment created this second, is a  moment that's going to last.
It lives the full spectrum of time, the future, the present and past.
