where the sky and horizon meet

0 posted 2001-07-05 07:04 AM

A raccoon came to visit me
Just the other day,
It seems that he was hungry
And thought he'd come and stay.

I'd come home after work,
And plopped down on the couch
When I heard this awful banging
And something grunted "ouch!"

I raced into the kitchen
To find the source of the sound
And that is when I saw him
Lying on the ground.

His belly full, his paws a mess,
His eyes looking scared up at me
I clapped my hands and off he went,
Toward my window at full speed.

He paused when he had gotten out,
And stood up looking in at me,
I slowly walked towards him,
And still he did not flee.

When I was within arms reach,
He chuckled and muttered, "yummy"
By then I'd had enough of him,
So I poked him in the tummy!

He grunted and waddled away,
His belly full of my food,
And as I went about cleaning up,
I muttered, "racoons can be so rude!"
