Oh, Mike ...
~*Marge Tindal*~

I try to keep my mind from remembering
what my heart cannot forget
Time doesn't heal the ache of missing you
or at least it hasn't yet~

I reach back in time before the phone call
the one that no one ever thinks of receiving
It's hard ... so hard to remember all that you were
in the absence of your being~

For all the years I knew you
so adorably adorable, little brother
Mischief- maker with that precious grin
that could melt the heart of Mother~

Your proud service for your country
Handsome devil in uniform you were
Not a surprise in this world
that you'd cause many a heart to stir~

Laughingly recalling our shared ESP
knowing that others didn't understand our rapport
it scared the bejeebers out of others
how we snickered at their discomfort even more~

Your tenderness with your newborn son
a moment I'll never forget
Little Mikey ... look-a-likey
he wears your name with pride
when the fireworks burst in the night sky of July
while others celebrate ... we douse the memories in tears
then suddenly there's nothing poetic
about remembering just how much I miss you
and it all falls apart
Oh, Mike ....

To say I'm sorry seems inappropriate. But I am. To lose someone you love is hard, and a wise woman once told me to lose a sibling is hardest. This is a beautiful tribute to him. Thank you for sharing it.

Marge-
oh my sweet friend...this just hurts.
   i'm typing this through blurry
   tear-filled eyes.
this is such a tender and loving
tribute to your brother, and your
love for him shines through so
   brightly it hurts my eyes.
beautiful just doesn't do this justice.

   warm fuzzy hugs,

Marge:  I can feel your pain coming through this beautiful poem.  I never had a brother and it was always a big gap in my life. Always wanted one so much.  Our young grandson, was killed by a speeding car a few years ago, on this day and I well remember the pain of losing him, so I have a small idea of yours.

Margie gal, my heart aches for your sorrow... This is a beautiful tribute... the absence of rhyme at the end just intensifies the sense of grief... for we do fall apart when we lose someone we love. Big hugs, sweet lady...

Marge--------having 15 biological siblings myself----and not growing up with any of them.  I too know what it feels like to lose a sibling.( I grew up in foster care.)  I still miss them--even though I never really knew them.  Just knowing that they exist, some  have passed away and I never got the chance to know them or say goodbye.  It still hurts  me to think of them. I couldn't imagine the amount of pain there is having been close to a sibling and losing hime.  My condolenses dear.

Of course my heart aches with you, but I see so many wonderful things in this poem Marge as I don't have any brothers or sisters.  I see that there were a lot of fun times, sharing, and even scaring the bejeebers out of people must be fond memories.  As each July 4th rolls around, and little Mikey look alikee stands there, celebrate your brother's life, and try to not think of his death, as his spirit and being live on through his son, and so do the memories of the joy you two had, so how wonderful is that? I can't even imagine loosing a sibling, as like I said, I don't have any, but I know how huge your heart is and if it aches, I just wish I could hug you my friend.  May your heart hurt a little less tomorrow.  This was a nice purging poem about and to your brother.  Continue to reach out, for as you can see there a ton of us here to hold your hand, hugs Margie girl.

If I made you smile today then I did my job!
