Pixie Prance
Virginia Salter

A diaper clad pixie
or maybe a cherub
heel-toeing the sidewalk
pushing her conveyance of joy
golden curls glistening in the sun
bright, sparkling eyes
livening her little
cherub smile

a bounce in her step
her tresses reflect
a body quite ebullient
with life

Mama in the yard
keeping a safe-distance guard
while toddler executes
serious play

back in my memory
to my daughter
then me
when playing in sunshine
was fine
dreams were like castles
with effervescent tassels
and frogs were their princes
cattails their fences
and any sweet dream
could be mine.

Aren't memories wonderful things. True we have some that should have been forgotten, but they make you, you...so, again, aren't memories wonderful?? Loved this piece...

This was lovely. They make it all worth while don't they? The children and the memories.

Thank you all, so much.  I'm really quite happy you've enjoyed this one.  While driving down one of the busier streets in our little town, yesterday, I saw this adorable little curly headed blond girl heel-toeing up the sidewalk.  As I wrote the poem, I thought back to when my daughter was that size and then to when I was.  The poem evolved from playful thinking and memories. Jwesley, how sweet of you to come in twice and to take time to comment, twice.
