I remember you…
How at 14 we fell
Through the excitement
And pain of being in love.

You, seeming much older
Than I felt I was,
Yet less in pain than I
Thought you were.

Tenderness and budding bodies
Twined together in
Clandestine trysts
Held for furtive moments
The hope of not being
Alone forever.

Who would have known
That some 30 years later,
I still remember the way
Your smile lit my days?

Or that the way you spoke,
When you were lost in the lies
We told each other,
Would haunt still nights?

At 14 I fell…
Out of the grace of innocence
And into love with you.
I no longer love you,
But the memories of
Those days and nights
Can make me wish I did.

Well...I have to admit that I am now a definite fan!  This brings such memories to mind, and the ending is superb!!!!!

The road goes on forever, and the stories never end...

I recall that time...and I like the way you "fell"....

a most descriptive image of what happens when it happens....

Evocative in a "haunting" manner...  the space you leave in the brevity of description is exactly the space which fills with the mind's imagery and empathy...  I enjoy your unique style of "story-telling" and thought provoking.
