One Heavy Chevy
Virginia Salter

One heavy Chevy
with four on the floor
dice o’er the dash
decals on the door.

A super classy chassis
with tuck ‘n’ roll seats
Sweeter on the eyes
than sugar-coated treats.

Thumpin’ out a rhythm
singing ‘bout life,
Cryin’ and a whinin’
‘bout losin’ his wife.

The dog in the back
is bayin’ at the moon
Addin’ morose
to the baleful tune.

Antler rack
pointin’ at the sky,
Rear view mirror
sayin’ “Good-bye.”

Fading now
as tires hit the dust
Away from her,
California or bust!

hehe, this is awesome!    I can just picture that truck riding off towards the horizon with the dog howling in the back.  Great poem!

Ditto, this has the makings of a wonderful country song for sure, it just needs a chorus and presto, you got yourself a hit record as it was sure a hit with me!

If I have made you smile today, then I have done my job!    ~* Mysteria *~

Thanks all!  Glad you enjoyed, it is a little different for me but very much fun to write, AND to be read.
