The poet’s heart beats strong with love
Exuding mercy given from heaven above
Each pulse sends out a signal true
Meant to capture the love of you

The poet’s heart is filled with compassion
Its tenderness never goes out of fashion
Always there with a listening ear
To soothe your anxiety and lessen your fear

The poet’s heart yearns for acceptance
A soul in search of man’s repentance
Capturing the essence of daily life
Helping you cope with trials and strife

The poet’s heart flows through her pen
Allowing us to believe once again
In a world so honest and pure
She gives you the courage to endure

The poet’s heart shines like the sun
You think about her when your day is done
Wondering what she’ll write that night
Casting on your path the warmest light

The poet’s heart is a fragile thing
But with patience you can make it sing
Songs filled with ancient lore
Of all those who have gone before

The poet’s heart feels your pain
She knows when inside it starts to rain
Drying your tears with her gentle hand
Always showing she understands

The poet’s heart shall live on
Even after her life is gone
For it is breathes through each word
Every one your heart has heard

The poet’s heart drifts on by
Leaving a tear in my eye
I’d give anything to see
The poet’s heart live in me

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

Truly touching and accurate -- you have described what I have felt intuitively but have never stopped to contemplate or express.  This is a very strong poem and worthy of many, many re-reads!

Sweetie, I cant SEE my heart either, but it would be a neat thing to be able to do... so I hear you when you say you would give anything    But I tell you Jen, its worth much more just KNOWING whats inside yourself... warmth, love, caring and of course, not just "a" poets heart, but YOUR poetic heart

Strive for higher levels, if they seem out of reach... Grow, and they will get closer.

*sigh* Did I tell you yet that you're getting better and better every time I read?  This one touched some place I could never explain.

Thank you all very much for the kind replies.  I appreciate each and every one of you.  I was just sitting here the other morning when this one came to me.  I guess it was something I'd been thinking about for a while.  Glad you all enjoyed.
