Rainbow

If I were the sky
o'er oceans, dales, and deserts
and mountains most high
every morn from a cloud
in crescive colours to pour
a rainbow would greet you
on the stair outside your door

To shine on you there, not to make you suppose...
but because you are true gold--a golden rose.

What lovely thoughts.  A fitting gift indeed.
