I'm a poet who writes on napkins,
A poet who writes on my hand.
Poetically....thoughts come to me
Erratic and unplanned.
When they are found I write them down
No matter where I am.
I'm a poet who writes on napkins
A poet who writes on my hand.

I'll write my thoughts down anywhere
On anything I've got.
I've written them on toilet paper
When I'm on the pot!
When sparks ignite my hand to write
The embers must be fanned.
I'm a poet who writes on napkins,
A poet who writes on my hand.

My finger itch. My muscles twitch
When new thoughts come my way.
A sudden burst of clever verse
Will brighten up my day.
Don't ask me why. It heats up my old
"Poetruary" gland.
I'm a poet who writes on napkins,
A poet who writes on my hand.

spouses call it poul-try
some even call it poor-tree
I know that I know I try
see the shower's stall? it cries!

Good laugh!  Thanks, I needed that!

we have something in common!!!

i've been known to take notes on barf bags midflight while trying to figure out how to throw the glass out of the hole, if that makes sense...*sigh*..

lol!!!!!

anyway, if i ever get all my notes together from napkins, brown paper bags, and such, i might come up with a book but i'm not holding my breath..... i'm such a frigging perfectionist, i may have to illustrate it too with somekindaartwork.... hehe... *wink*

i loved it michael.... thank you so very much........... keep writing on whatever.....
sometimes i need magnetic poetry from borders to help my muse but for you, you have a gift......

and a very wonderful one...........

you are a fine Poet and a 'deer friend......

Now if I could read my own handwriting, this would work, but I've got to get to my computer,
Anyway, this is a delightful poem
And perfect as always

I do this, too...I have a box full of thoughts, lines, ideas.  I need to start remembering though, to copy down the ones on my hand before I take a shower.  Enjoyed!

Hey Balladeer I hope you don't make a mistake with a real good line when you're on the pot......good grief what a tough recall that would be especially if you forgot it quickly....why don't you keep a note pad in there??? Just tryin to be helpful!

Have a good line day!!

delightful poem!

I love this one, Bal... my Biloxi Trilogy was a series of observations written on a stack of cocktail napkins... and almost illegible when I got into better light and tried to sort them. LOL And I know I'm gonna get killed one of these days, tryin' to write (before the thoughts escape *G*) as I drive... but no scrap of paper is safe. *G*

Wherever you write, whatever you write on... just keep writing, Deer one! *G*

I have endeavored to help make this a papaerless society but I see I and my ilk are doomed to failure.
(Shhh, I 'secretly' write on paper before transcribing to my MS Word, on occasion.  Please don't tell...)

Before all of you fall over your collective tongue singing the praises of this ne'erdowell scoundrel, perhaps you should know why he writes poetry on his napkin.  Ya see, ol' 'Deer figures that there's lots of waitresses out there making a lot of money on tips, so why not break the mold and pay 'em off with napkin poetry.  And to make sure they know who he is, he signs his works with his phone number!  Now me, I would never insult a hard working woman with napkin poetry (I just tell 'em how I love kittens and THEN write my number *heh*).

yeah, me too, and on brown paper bags, and barf bags, and bar coasters, and the backs of old greeting cards

lol!

it gets worse though....when everyone around me shuts up because they're afraid i'll immortalize them.... once someone said to me, "i'm afraid to go camping with you because if i piss on the fire, you'll write a pome about it"......... geesh...

maybe if i stop taking notes and writing verse on scrap pieces of paper..... ummm... oh damn!! i've lost my whole thought here... .maybe something about that... can't remember....

but anyway, i remember this pome when i read it the first time and to be honest, i thought i wrote it at first until i realized that  the meter and rhyme were perfect and the humor and wit were so wonderful

thanks for posting it again... brought back a memory or two of some writing i did before

i had to come back to read it again and kick it back up top... *wink*

'Deer dear heart, Thank you again, I don't care wherever you write it, or whenever you repost it, JUST KEEP DOING IT
Absolutely fabulous writing love.   Now this one is another treasure, for me to place in the 'Deer hall.

Now all I need is a stack of ideas to arrive with their own pad pen and suitable place to write and I shall be able to think about writing something.   Of course that's assuming I can stir myself to be that energetic, still at least writing is a sitting down activity, so I might manage it.
Take care

Perhaps you write on napkins, and
Perhaps you write on hands,
No matter where you write it 'Deer,
'Tis in our heart it lands.

Best wishes,

Hehe, isn't it crazy what we'll resort to?

I'm a scatter brain though so I carry around a "Remember Book" although I tend to forget it so then I resort to napkins and other such means    this is hilarious, I love it!

Ditto Deer,
I don't do as well as you but I've learned to keep notebooks with me at all times. However you should see the poems written in lipstick or eyebrow pencil  for lack of a pen. *soft smile*
