Firmly She Stood
Virginia Salter

Firm, with utmost confidence, in her decision,
she stood
the tall green waving in the breeze on one side
the lovely white of blossoms wafting sweet aromas on the other

Yet steadfast she remained
precarious her domain
the thin line between
each choice that lay about.

In not making the wrong,
she clung to her decision of indecision,
nothing ventured, nothing lost
both her future and her past
were to apathy tossed.

Though, if truth be fully known,
it was not in apathy she stood,
but rather in an attempt
to not take the bad and miss the good.

The days did linger on,
the grasses grew from green to fade,
the blossoms bore their fruit
till she knew the price she paid.

Standing on the fence
saved her from stumbling in the reeds,
but it also stole, from her,
opportunity to succeed.

got to watch that standing on the fence stuff... you can get splinters...

nicely written VAS... and yes to err on the safe side often causes us to lose opportunities

Thanks, Ron, for coming in to read.  Would you believe this all started from thinking about a cat walking along the fence line? Heh-heh.
