The words are but a murmur,,
That lies beneath the rhythm
Of water over stone.

Spoken  long ago
And  many times in many places
They mean the same…
yet never do.

As music,
They are Gregorian chant…
or be-bop
One is never sure…

Heard by your heart
They speak beyond sound
They are felt…
more than heard.

Speak them again
So I might hear the meaning…
As it was intended
For…

The words are but a murmur,
That lies beneath the rhythm
Of life over days.

A day in the life of a poet...  or a life in the day of a poet?  Universal; yet personal...  sticking like sap to a tree, but at the same time becoming amber which may itself contain other lifeforms and their wisdoms for future generations...  Isn't poetry wonderful?  Yours sure is! :-]

'The words are but a murmur,,

I love the image I got with those lines, cpat hair!  This is just excellent...I truly love this...into the library for sure...

it was love that first drew me,
it is love that will keep me here...
now I see love burning brightly
when everything else is unclear...

listen to the
flow
as words freely
go
through time and
space
some touch without a
trace
different to
all
at our beck and
call

as always enjoy your words...helen

A wonderful write!

               "Heard by your heart
                They speak beyond sound
                They are felt…
                more than heard."

Ah the power of your written word here!

"The words are but a murmur,,
                  That lies beneath the rhythm
                  Of water over stone."

You can listen and learn but it's always wonderful to have it in print...it's so solid there!
Excellent write!
