Come Again To Tara

~*Marge Tindal*~

Come again with me to Tara
where dreams so fertile grew
In stately mansions of the South
where vision sprang anew

Among the flatland fields of cotton
ever-growing fabric of our life
Before the history of the war
created so much strife

A time of rolling sunsets
across the promenade of day
Come again with me to Tara
in fragrant magnolia sway

I shall be your Scarlett
you, my desirous Rhett
We will write the chapters
of a love they won't forget

A time gone with the wind
returns in soft array
Come again with me to Tara
on gently-breezed memories at play

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

This is really lovely. The imagery is very good. At least I thinks so.

Ah, don't even get me started.  How many times have I read this book....suffice to say...enough to quote lines....

but every time, because MM had it done just that way....I see something new...usually has to do with passages of time....

but to put it in my proper corner....what is new, comes old, what is old, comes new again....

What I wouldn't give to live in that era...in the beautiful South before the war, when grace touched every fragment of life. Your writing here is as beautiful as Tara, and as emotionally charged as the love between Scarlett and Rhett.  Thank you for this one, Marge...I do love it!!

The road goes on forever, and the stories never end...

Oh ... you made my day with your graceful comments.
Yes ... a time of discovery for the genteel South.
I have been to Tara ... in a life of the past~
Not surprising that I know the strife from both sides ...
but oh, to return, if even on a memory is still a heavenly thought.
Thank you for your reply so much.

Roniece~
Of course I remember ...
Welcome home.
Thank you for your reply.

Marge:  This is one of my favorite books and you have captured some of it's charm in your poem. Life was so gracious before the war tore the South apart. We can go back in imagination and through your poetry.
