One cannot o'erstate the plain
that sunlit forests whose arbored pine
doth soothe the soul from worry draw
and lighten spirit when such is shed
as would that wood rid it's bark
and bask on solar favor fair.

Wandering from the tent topped fair
which rise above the treeless plain
put distance twixt the carnies bark
and prod the memory to pine
of days woodcutting by the shed
such comfort doth this memory draw.

Tis always in my heart the draw
of autumn leaves as windblown fair
whose breath so too all stress may shed
reducing life to simple plain,
a carpet soft of needled pine
my music distant canined bark.

Escape need I the cities bark
to places artists urge to draw
for they as poets too oft pine
not for fancy but to fair
for in the end it is the plain
and peace, give just a modest shed.

After torrents water shed
put up the dugout made of bark
and climb the hill o'erlooking plain,
molding clouds as mind's eye draw
from billowed softened visions fair
sweet sentiments we always pine.

Senses suckle scent of pine
malodorous assaults of urban shed
rejuvenates the mood to fair
embraced in sentries clothed in bark
from bankrupt concrete canyons draw
reduce to bare survival plain

It must be plain that lost in pine
life is a draw but find that fair
for troubled bark as trees need shed.

Richard you have outdone yourself with this Sestina, which by the way is absolutely perfect!  The images were outstanding, congratulations on a fabulous poem (hope you are using this in the festival?)
