Midnight has driven me mad
with each strike and chime
of passing,
I search between the space
of passing click and tick
clock worked time
for eternity

Raven raps no more
and witches cackle
no less

Still...
in silence
echoes fade
as minds turn
in mysterious
ways to ticking
and click clock
passing of time

I have so many different kinds of timepieces throughout my house...

however, I have never looked at them, quite like this.

I may have to sit and stare at one or two of them tonight, and recall these words...

quote:
I search between the space
of passing click and tick

yes....

no wonder I feel very, very small at times....

This reminds me of sleepless nights, when the ticking of the clock seemed overpoweringly loud!  Trying to block it's sound out, becomes a contest.

Oh, I must wind my mother's ticking clock again, it has been silent much too long

it gives a comforting to me of lovely memories of family gatherings, laughter, good food, belonging

I must wind it
life, love, memories take maintenance

Very very long, indeed....
