In a corporeal internship...

It's a feeling of desolation
Everything familiar is gone...
It seems the only explanation
Is that all what we know must go on.
A change in time at a pace that is set
Faces and places soon to forget
A portion of time left behind
And you realize:  you cannot rewind...

Alone once more
Behind a door
Whose pathway
Leads away
From things once known
And things outgrown
To another time and day...

Testing all of the things you've learned
Resting on all the things that you have earned
You still have your dreams to follow
Today is yours -- not tomorrow.
Despite the fact you're on your own
In light of all that you were shown
It's your chance now to prove yourself
And put the past back on the shelf.

Alone once more
Behind a door
Whose pathway
Leads away
From things once known
And things outgrown
To another time and day...

across the land of dreams. In your heart, I'd always be.

I think every one of us goes through such feeling of desolation.......
As if the earth is not the earth and the sky is not the sky.......and everything seems strangely silent and different.

You have expressed it so well........

Thank you for sharing

VAS:  thank you much.  I've learned over the years the wisdom of the fact that truly today is yours, not tomorrow -- one can plan and much as one wants, but tomorrow may never come so perspective needs to be maintained and real emphasis placed on the moment.

My Enchanted Melody (I'm curious what it sounds like...):  No doubt those of us who are human and honest have at some point experienced the realization that desolation is what always lurks beside us, waiting for a closed invitation to surround us.  Thank you for participating.

Gemini:  thank you for your response -- just sharing what I've felt before and, no doubt, will continue to feel every now and then...

Vandana:  perhaps, someday you'll share with me what exactly you like about my work, but 'till then, I am quite satisfied and honored to receive your smiles!

SEA:  a very warm grin to you -- I'm simply happy to share this stuff with an audience who can appreciate the veins of emotion and experience that until now have mostly remained internal.  Thank YOU.

Hey Mark
I write hundreds of lyrics and I recognize them when I read them.....these are very good.   I enjoyed the musical speculation I could put into them!!

Thanks, Eric.  This song is a somber piano ballad.  It's good to hear a musician's point of view!
