When Summer whispers gently in the breeze,
across the land...
And all around,
her golden touch is seen...
‘Tis maybe then these eyes will see,
this heart will understand...
That the only time we’ll meet,
is in my dreams...

I’ll never see your face,
reflecting on the waters still...
Your laugh is but imagined in my mind...
Reality has bathed me,
in a  ghostly Winter chill...
Though Summer,
all around,
does naught but shine...

She calls me back into her warmth,
enticing though it be...
With scenes of someday’s memories,
in the air...
But nothing stirs except the tears,
that fall inside of me...
They fall, because I know...
You’ll not be there...

You’ll not be there to share the days,
I thought would be forever...
You’ll not be there to touch,
when shadows fall...
In truth,  I know it’s fantasy...
As lovers, we were never...
Though never is a long, long time,
you’ll not be there,
at all...

The road goes on forever, and the stories never end...

Dreams has a way of refreshing us or bringing more sorrow. Sad this one was, but did enjoy the writing.

SunnyOne~
So lovely you've written of the warmth that beckons us all ...

'When Summer whispers gently in the breeze,
across the land...
And all around,
her golden touch is seen...
‘Tis maybe then these eyes will see,
this heart will understand...'

'She calls me back into her warmth,
enticing though it be...'

Within the completeness of your verse ...
hope rises effervescently.

Hi ya, Sunnyone - It has been too long.  I sincerely hope you are well, and that your muse put you up to this.  There is a sense of melancholy here that is very sad.  I also hope it doesn't involve either Toerag of Balladeer - those two scoundrels cannot be trusted!  I have told everybody this many times.  Here's a hug.  Incidently, your poem is well written.

...suthern...
Oh, yes...a poet's heart is so aware of these feelings...the heartache gives us but another reason to write, does it not? Thank you, my dear friend!!!

...kit...
it is always such a sheer pleasure to have you visit at my door!!  Thank you, and I am glad that you did enjoy this little bit of
melancholy today!!

...Marge...
I may be a dreamer, but I do believe that there is always a shred of hope, even in the most hopeless of situations.  I thank you very much.......always enjoy your replies!!

...LngJhnAg...
Oh, thank you for the big hug, and don't worry...the 'scoundrels' were not involved this time!! I am not acquainted with Toerag, but Balladeer has always been a gentleman!!
It is good to hear from you again......my muse is pleased......thank you, too!!

...ethome...
Yes....there is a musical sadness to this that is a familiar tool of my muse......and I am glad to have you visit here, my friend!!

...snowpants...
Thank you so much for adding this to your library.....I am quite honored, my friend!!
(And glad that you liked this one, too!!)
