~*5 Sticky Fingers *~

Sweet face of an angel,
But it’s all covered with dirt!
Her dress straps hanging down,
untied shoes, and torn shirt.

Bruises, and cuts on her knees,
But such a sweet smile on her face,
And would you believe,
Not a hair on her head is in place?

Her brand new patent shoes,
The best ones that she owns,
worn the toes right through,
Where she’s been kicking stones.

Then five sticky fingers,
So tightly hold my hand.
This little tomboy looks up at me,
And says, “I love you Nan!”

I really want to scold her
As she is such a mess,
But I look at the love in her eyes,
And I forgive her, I confess.

This darling little tomboy,
Is really pretty darn smart.
She wraps me around her little finger,
She knows we're connected at the heart!

Ahhh, you guys - you are going to make me cry now!  Yup that little ragermuffin melts my heart better than a heatwave in a freezer!  And you know something - she looks cuter than anything when she is a mess and all dirty!  Thanks to you all for enjoying this silly little dittie.

Sharon - I don't think we've met before, but I'm the really sweet guy everybody here has told you about.  What?  Not even ONE person?  I'll get even with all of them!  I'll fix their wagons!  I'll... oops...  *g*

This poem reminds my of my daughters when they were young.  There were times I was so intent on getting them cleaned up that I forgot about the little sprites inside them who got them dirty.  There were other times like in your poem.  Yanno what?  It's the other times that always come back to me, now that they've grown.  Your poem reached deep inside me and brought them back.  Thank you for that.

Oh, Sharon, THIS NOW IS MY FAVORITE OF YOURS!!!

Our little girls, even if they're not our daughters, but the little girls in our lives, they steal our hearts...of course, we usually hand them to them at the end of loving arms.

This makes me wish so very much I could get my scanner re-installed.  It makes me think of a pic of my daughter that is one of my favorites...she was about 3 and had been picking strawberries.  Thanks for the nostalgia!  The gentle music was wonderful.

Mysteria, oh the memories..... When our 5 were little, I tried so hard to have them clean and proper when their grand parents came.  It didn't happen and I have heard many times from ONE grandma that they were always "dusty" smelling.  Want to see a broken heart?  Today, I couldn't care less what my little dears look or smell like.  All to soon they will be gone.  I love every word of your rememberance.  Thank you,  ME

You guys!

May I say if we have touched the life of a child and made them feel love in our lifetime then we have done our job!  There is nothing more unconditional than the love of a child, and how lucky are we that receive it!  Thank you all for your comments.

Lady in White, Ethome, Serenity ~ Thank you for smiling (or I felt you did!)

Vas, Mother Earth ~ I am so happy to have stirred up wonderful memories for you that warm your heart.

Now, Long John, yes they told me you were about the cutest thing to hit the Bleu Pages, and watch out for ya! (just kidding...and I am so glad you reflected to your own offsprings in this, I had hoped for this reaction.  Thank you for reading.

Martie: You wait, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, like a grandchild, we turn into something we have no control over, and lucky me - I get another one in November! Thanks for reading sweetie.
