Will the fire of desire in my breast,
consume me as it rages in my chest?
The desperate longing shortening my breath
in its need prolonging hasten on my death?

In your absence I'm a blind man without sight,
yet in darkness no relief in sleep at night,
though petite my princess you're indenturer,
somehow cast your spell and tamed this predator.

How unseen did you Lothario control
and so easily lay claim upon my soul?
How did it come to this my hoped assume,
that you too lie awake now in your room?

A short time ago two satellites unaware,
would now in daily offerings of care
so state with such conviction and be sure of
In short acquaintance length and depth of Love.

Despite pronouncements there I wouldn't go,
for you I'll volunteer cicisbeo,
so I attend your table yet do not eat,
when, oh when will our consumption be complete?

With stolen moments as you promised I'll make do,
Deferring fears of tomorrows guilt review,
we're both wise enough to see a painful end,
helpless moths into the flame our hearts we send.

Guide me, not in bed I know the way,
but guide me through your thoughts before we lay,
I know how easily I could be thine,
Pray tell me Madam, will you e'er be mine?

RSWells~
I am sure you'll have a scurrying about of women looking up 'cicisbeo' ...

Scandalously done, poet.
LOL !  Enjoyed !

Oh indeed he did, Marge!  Isn't it WONDERFUL when a poet will go the lengths, no matter the desires, to incorporate verbiage that we must ALL scramble for....

even if indeed the intent was for another...

Well done, sir!

Thank you Ms. Tindal. I do enjoy getting a rise out of folks. Particularly on Sunday morning. It is an honor to have your encouragement.

Sunshine; This was indeed written for an almost passionate, yet unconsumated desire for an unhappily (so said she) married poetess. I am however currently available.
