Deep in the heart

0 posted 2001-06-23 01:05 PM

The pain intense,
              Returning
With each heartbeat,
Reminding me of how much
               I hate charley.
Beautiful young
              Nurse
                     Tending to me.
First girl from home
I’ve seen in almost two years.
       Thank you, Jerry,
For saving me.
(Why me Lord?)
            I will visit you
                At the wall
One day soon
     When I can
Live through the pain.

And now we scrape away the dirt of yesterday, to find the soul of tomorrow....

Interloper...i am sorry for your pain inside and out...i know many who can still not go to that wall out of pain...as a mother of a son in the army and one going to the navy in the fall...i pray i am NOT going to get that final call...helen

Thank you all for reading something that is a departure from my usual write.  What with Memorial day ... but that's just an excuse.  I will never forget Jerry for saving my life and dying in my arms from the sacrifice.

He had a son he had never seen ... named after me.  I saw him and his mother, when I got back to the world, only one time.  We had gone to high school together, all three of us.  Neither one of us could get past the pain and we never talked again.
