In a corporeal internship...

0 posted 2001-06-23 09:24 AM

The wind is numbing
     My face is cold
    My turn is coming
  My heart beat's bold
This hill's much steeper
       Than I had planned
        I feel the tension
     Surge through my hands
       The trail is clearing
                 A spot below
          My chance is nearing
              All systems go...
             The skis beneath me
                   Begin to slide
               I'm almost ready --
                 Commence the ride!

Sunshine, there are few things quite like the exhiliration and adrenaline felt like when about to "shove off" down a slick slope...  not too far from the feeling of a MAJOR rollercoaster, with the exception of no guard bars protecting your life!

But if you close your eyes, Connie, you'll miss at least half of the excitement!  I still have a dream to one day wear a walkman and listen to a James Bond ski-chase theme as I bullet down a slope in the future...

Yes, Sandra, much more indeed -- like the goggles fogging up, or one's legs trying to go in opposite directions, or a beautiful tiny tree suddenly kissing your cheek...

SEA, I'd highly recommend it -- VERY addicting sport but SO enthralling!  Just be careful and ski with some supportive friends or family...

Mark, loved the read, and know it must really be a kick,,ahh however, being a scuba diver, the idea of being on a warm beach sounds better than snow down my neck, no offense of course, as each his own..but did like the imagery, well done, my friend, gentle smile

Nakdthoughts:  thanks for stopping by and for bringing this one "back into circulation".

Logan, scuba diving is still on my "must do" list in life in terms of skills to acquire -- I've always wanted to learn that, but for now, snorkeling is the next best thing.  In terms of the rush of downhill skiing -- I know of nothing as exciting (of course I've never tried the other extreme sports like sky-diving, and most assuredly never will!).  Thanks for your read and reply.
