Take My Picture

Go on take my picture
and hang it on your wall.
Yell your obscenities,
my picture will not fall.

Go ahead laugh at me,
clutch your fists at my face.
I will hang there proudly
and never show disgrace.

I will show you no fear
when you have angry fits,
spit on it, hit on it,
and shred my face to bits.

Looking at my picture,
think what joy it will bring
knowing that you own it
without spending anything.

Go on take my picture
and hang it on your wall.
Maybe you wont miss me
or know I'm gone at all.

ty Bob...it's a complicated issue, and I'd like to thank you for addressing it. This is written with the strength that it takes to LEAVE. But sadly, many stay, because they believe that it's all they deserve. HUGS and thanks again. This should be framed and hanged on the wall of every woman's shelter.

Serenity,

Thank you.  Yes, this is a survivor's poem.  You are right at times leaving is not the correct thing to do, but communicating is always in season.  The battered do need to know that abuse is never right, that they are not alone, and there is a place where they can go....  Oh, I would be honored to have this appear in any woman's shelter.

Decaflame and Sven,

Thank you so much.......

Poet deVine,

Yes, it is a big problem and I am small in comparison....  but God has given us all talents and perhaps together we can make a difference.

Very powerful and vivid write here, my friend.  You have portrayed it well.  So many do not have the courage to leave and end up paying the ultimate price.  No one should ever have to live like that.  Not ever.  Well done. Bless you, Bob.

All writing comes
by the grace of God.

Lone Wolf,

Yes, fear is a strong deterent to escaping an abusive relationship.... that is why communication is so vital... the victim truly needs to find a place where they can receive sound guidance and advice.
