A Day Lost to Tomorrow
Virginia Salter

“If We Make it to December,”
Oh,“Help Me Make it Through the Night”
we can soothe our hearts’ remember
cause I know we’ll be all right.

“I Will Wait for You” for
“Love is Just Around the Corner,”
we’ll “Dream a Little Dream” for two
and “We Can Work it Out.”

Spending all my yesterdays
waiting for tomorrow
thinkin’ ‘bout your promises
livin’ in my sorrow.

Waitin’ for the sun to shine
while the moon is in the dark
Turning its face away
stealing all the spark

This dreaming of our future is
“Almost Like Being In Love,”
“Because of You,” “I’m a Believer”
all our love needs is one little shove.

If you’ll “Cast Your Fate to the Wind”
and “Wade in the Water,”
we’ll be “Walking in the Sunshine”
sayin’ “Somethin’ Stupid” won’t matter.

All of my tomorrows,
will become a memory,
and one day we’ll say
“It Was a Very Good Year.”

And yet, I seem to remain,
this “Stranger on the Shore,”
wouldn’t want to complain,
that’s what “Rainy Days and Mondays” are for.
