Sadly, sentimental me,
misses an icon on my screen.
A tiny blinking envelope--
message from--a spark of hope.

I had to turn the "uh-ohs" down.
It startled me to hear the sound.
Now my speaker's on again.
I miss the "uh-ohs" of my friend.

I did not save the history.
Conversations typed till three--
and on until the clock struck four
as we typed and typed some more.

And surprise as clock chimed five.
(It took that long to say goodbye.)
But oh it was a fine surprise
to hear your voice and meet your eyes.

Now a keyboard just won't do.
I want to take in all of you.
I want to smell your very scent...
my time with you, to be...Well? SPENT.

I used to wonder why they used the sound Uh-Oh on ICQ. Sadly I found out too late...

very nicely penned, serenity..
