The Salt Air Cloak

by Michael

He wears the salt air
as a cloak
and pulls it tightly
‘round his fragile form.

Hot ocean sand,
like sponge,
draws weariness away,
soaks it up,
and it's there to stay.

Throwing bits of bread
into the air,
seagulls dive and catch,
their calls growing louder,
more urgent.

Dressed in jeans
and shirt,
he’s so out of place
among the barely clothed.

He gets curious looks,
as he rests and paints
ocean,
children at play,
the joy, laughter,
a lovely summer day.

His weeping flesh
he knows can never heal,
but gives thanks daily
for the depths
his heart can feel.

And he is blessed.
He is so very blessed.

Hi Auguste,

Wonderful, wonderful writing here, sometimes it's quite OK to be out of place, it's a matter of where ones heart lays, beautiful work, loved it.

Love, Cerenity

Connie,
Yes, quite blessed!  Thank you.

Cerenity,
Thank you for the "Wonderful" and yes, it is okay to be out of place, not a carbon copy of everyone else.  Thank you.

Lone Wolf,
Thank you and yes, he truly is.

Sue.
