I Thought...You Were Here

I sat beneath a shaded tree while sunlight laid upon it's leaves
I sat there in thought of where today might find my friend
I was among the ones in prayer for a little relief
Hoping out there beneath it's branches I may find you again...

It was at my moments weakness I thought I heard you calling my name
How your voice it just soared upon the breeze
I heard the echo of your familiar sound so many times
Oh, I like to think at that moment you also were wanting me...

I thought I'd never again know the feeling of you at my side
But, it was as real as this warm afternoon
I will hold onto what I've been fortunate enough to have
And, allow forever to remind me of this moment in June...

I swear, I saw your face moving with the clouds above
And, watched you surround my every move I made
I stared in amazement of how clearly your eyes could be seen
A view of the sky in its most heartbreaking shade...

The tears were just a release from this so very lost soul
Afraid to blink and then you will be gone
But, I thought then that I heard you breathing at last
How it traveled beautifully within this summers song...

I watched in the distance how the sun seemed to shine on the ground
And, shadows of the fields stood magically on lands of green
It was then that I thought I heard you laughing out loud
For the wild flowers swayed to it's tune of it's friend unseen...

I just sat patiently in what I thought was my only chance
And, vowed to remain until sundown with you
I must not turn my head from a moment that may never come again
Oh, I'd sure like to think beneath your sun you're missing me, too...

Have you ever known the color grey when the nighttime finds you weak
I have, I've walked that road each time; that's where my angel sleeps

Faith is what keeps us going towards hope, and hope becomes reality.  A great read, and I am sure they missed you too!
