A heart that's starved for love will die

by Michael

We reap the harvest that we sow
Though often weeds are all we'll see
No sun to nourish new seedlings
They die in shadows, much like we

A mind grows tired from lack of use
And dreams will fade for want of hope
The heart grows weary from excuse
So often times in life we grope

We have so much that few will know
And take for granted those so near
Not satisfied with all we have
We often hurt the ones most dear

A heart that's starved for love will die
So easy happens and in vain
We get so that we don't notice
So blind that we ignore their pain

Her fragrance, a feminine thing
The softness of her touch is there
The smell of her like summer rain
Her closeness, like much needed air

And when she breathes, breathe also I
To taste her hot and wetted smile
Her heart the cradle of my eye
Her neck, a place to pause awhile

Such private things I dared to know
I've missed them more than it would seem
Forgotten friends I used to know
Her touch again like some sweet dream

So early did we till the earth
And plant our seed in it to grow
Ignored, it began to wither
To keep it weeded, now we know

The sun now touches starving hearts
The harvest will be full this year
And the plants that were forgotten
Are now the ones we hold most dear

"Love is space and time measured by the heart"

This is so lovely, and quite appropriate, as harvest time comes to Kansas....

thank you for this!

Michael~
'We reap the harvest that we sow'

How very true - for some a bountiful heart -
for others barren fields of broken dreams.

It sounds like the love was fed in time, thankfully, before the starvation took place.
Strong message and well done.

Michael...this is an awesome write!!!
these lines touched me in ways i can't describe...

"We reap the harvest that we sow"

"A heart that's starved for love will die"

"So blind that we ignore their pain"

we should be much more careful with the ones (we say) we love...helen
