Sir Walk-a-lot
Virginia Salter

Come and meet Sir Walk-a-lot
He ate some beans and old shallot
Then traveled he to Camelot
Until he found the perfect spot
To have a drop of tea.

Then traveled on to Babylon
And rested on a new mown lawn
Until the night reached early dawn
And all the salmon went to spawn
Then he came back home to me.

Now mind you, I was filled with dread
At what may be inside his head
So I asked him to leave instead
Or else we might all end up dead
Beside the likes of he.

He gathered all his mustered power
Cajoled me well with a lovely flower
Swept me away with words of power
Minute by minute and hour by hour
Until he courted me.

Helplessly I gave my hand
My knees were weak, I could not stand
He lifted me and crossed the land
And with his love forever banned
Somewhere beyond the sea.

Sir Walk-a-lot, The Continuing Saga
Virginia Salter

One day in June, Sir Walk-a-lot
Feasted on sweet Choc-o-lot
Almond Joy’s just hit the spot
With the weather not too hot
To make it melt away.

Then found himself well deep in thought
Of what it is and what it’s not
And if it’s purchased or it’s bought
With money or a barter’s shot
At time spent of the day.

Now, if you know Sir Walk-a-lot
You know he’d rather stroll than trot
Yet when sweet choclit’s what he’s got
He’d rather run than lose the lot
And with deep sorrow pay.

Then end up on a loathesome cot
In realms of pain and stomach’s knot
That his horrendous lot has brought
From being painfully distraught
In some horrid  ghast array.

For his addiction, Walk-a-lot
Would search and search to fill the spot
Of any form of choc-o-lot
Be it sweet or semi not
No matter tooth decay.

Sir Walk-a-lot, III
Virginia Salter

Sir Walk-a-lot met Talk-a-lot
and as they walked, she’d squawk-a-lot
about the whether, it was hot
and pollen that did plague alot
in the springtime of the day.

Then he would lead to cozy spot
along the shore where man was not
they’d sift through lunch that they had bought
and he  would seek congenial spot
and attempt to have his say.

Yet true to form, was Talk-a-lot,
his say would rarely find a spot
as she would speak more like than not
seldom reveal receptive thought
to him having got his way.

Yet persevere, did Walk-a-lot
to smile, cajole, beguile alot
melting heart of Talk-a-lot
silencing her squawking spot
until she’d be held at bay.

One day when defense was not
her heart enamored as it ought
from lovely strokes and words so hot
Sir Walk-a-lot and Talk-a-lot
did muse their thoughts so gay.

Plans were made two-thousand-aught
that they would wed in Camelot
and build upon a little lot
a wondrous home and garden spot
and enjoy eternity away.
