Still Remembered

This room, the very spirit of it’s host
The antique bed with tall hand whittled post
The wallpaper with tiny floral print
A tin box filled with favorite peppermint

A jewelry case with heirlooms of the past
Her mirrors gleam the tiny floral cast
As though her garden’s spread across the room
Resisting outdoor darkening and gloom

On slanted roof I hear the falling rains
Her scent of lilac subtly remains
On linens and on pillows puffed with down
And on her silky robe and summer gown

The drawers are filled with treasures all her own
Small trinkets I recall as I have grown
How can I now disrupt this lovely place
Profuse with mothers warmth and charming grace

I curl up on her warming bed and weep
Until her comfort cradles me to sleep

Touching the sweetest of memories here ...
Her fragrance lingers ... and I breathe her in~

Thank you, sweet poetess.

never forgotten. . .

Liz, I know that I've said it before, but, if I ever write even half as superbly as you do when I grow up, than I shall be truly blessed. . .

Pretty. I do hope you can always find a place to feel that comfort...

This is the kind of poetry that just fills me with inspiration....so rich in imagery and woven to make the reader feel the picture.....thank you!

Thank you all so kindly for your remarks. THis happened when I was 27 (long, long ago)
and I still miss her very much.
It was so hard dismantling her room. It was a special place
Liz
