I’ve nothing left to give
My soul is so weary
It is a wonder it’s still there
The fight has gone out of me
Robbed from me in the moment
That I was not looking

Deception is a cruel mistress
Yet I know her so well
Often times she is gentle
Lulling me into a false sense
Of the security I so long for
Then bam! She hits me over the head

I stumble back from the blow
She grins as she admires her work
Caught me not looking again
You think I’d learn by now
She always lays in wait
Lurking in the shadows

When opportunity presents itself
She pounces into action
Panting from the excitement
Pure adrenaline courses through her veins
Her eyes grow huge with glee
Watching me reel from the blows

They fall mercilessly
Shattering my remaining will
I am pelted in a relentless barrage
Whose intensity is like none
I’ve ever known before
She looms over me

I beg for reprieve
Her eyes tell me no
I am on my knees
Praying to God
For the strength
To endure my lot

He finally grants
My soul release
As my spirit
Leaves my body
Journeying upward
To be with Him

As I watch from above
Deception is conquered
In a shower of brilliance
Fire and brimstone
Hail from the heavens
Dissolving her before me

by the grace of God.

So much emotion here...anger, betrayal, submission.  Quite powerful!

This re-energises sentiments by the sheer power of the written word... Way too impressive, my friend...

Thanks for sharing...
