Gone Fishing

The sky was the color of loving eyes,
water sparked with light, like laughter
reflected in the misty green,
soft and gently swaying.

I sat down in the damp earth waiting,
my pole in hand a pretense.

A honey bee on yellow flower
of mustard green hovered close,
the breeze caught some lake froth
and slapped it next the dry and broken stems
and like percussion softly kept the time
of twirl of earth.

A duck of vibrant green flapped its wings
against the glass of calm
to ripple me.

As the color left the cliffs
and eased behind the rim of hill,
one lone frog clicked forth a verse,
then down the ridge more filled the air
of slowly ebbing day with song.

Dove’s soft call fell around,
water listening quiet gave
the silver slither fisher's dream
right to pass,
giving me instead this serenade.
__________

Hi all...going fishing..be back around the 26th.

In the dew of little things,
the heart finds its morning
and is refreshed.
(ee cummings)

Martie, beautiful poem. Hope the fishing goes well.

Marite have a good time......this poem is so special as all of yours are!  I could get absorbed in the images as usual!

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

Martie~
Iffen you're as good a fishergal as you are a poet -
those fishes better head for deeper water !

Well, I know you've got a good hush puppy recipe
to cook up with your catch !

'A honey bee on yellow flower
of mustard green hovered close,
the breeze caught some lake froth
and slapped it next the dry and broken stems
and like percussion softly kept the time
of twirl of earth.'

Not leaving the beauty of your thoughts to escape ...
THIS IS MARVELOUS ! ! !
Love ya', gal.
