A California Night

I saw it all just in my mind not more than a moment ago
I knew I'd never forget the sweetness in it all
Pleasant in my heart stands a California night
Can't take my eyes from the memories hung here on my wall...

I traveled many, many miles to an unknown place
But, Oh, I walked those California streets with so much faith
I knew I had found the miles I'd moved to be my best
For this felt like home and just no time to rest...

My journey wouldn't be long so I just couldn't stop
I took in every moment God placed before these eyes
I felt nothing more than an absolute peace being there
And, tucked away every thought for safe keeping inside...

Yes, on a journey to find what I've never known before
I experienced heaven at last behind each new door
Even the air I breathed seemed extra gentle and light
And, I danced in freedom with all my might...

From the calmer of times to the more intense ones
Carries a part of me that no time can fade
To the mornings of sunshine to the evenings moon overhead
And, to that beach I witnessed in it's coolest shade...

That beach still sings so loudly as the waves move in and out
I learned that night what the world was really about
It takes then it gives and life repeats over again
That California beach became my most precious friend...

If I close my eyes I can still feel the water at my feet
An awesome feeling from the soul to the eyes
I saw it all in just seconds standing here
A California night from beneath a West Virginia sky...

Have you ever known the color grey when the nighttime finds you weak
I have, I've walked that road each time; that's where my angel sleeps

Saunni
I can see that the sea gives you much inspiration for your beautiful writing and that was so evident in this piece.  I find that most of my inspiration comes from the sea too....what better place is there?
Take care.....Sue

Mmm, I feel just this way about California nights. I especially liked the stanza about the ocean. Lovely.

Oh to only shut my eyes and dream of gentle, warm, California breezes...I shall now go do some TM and see if that works!  Great work Sauni.
