Someday
I thought to have time for love
When a home built
by two hands
was completed
When work brought forth
the luxury
a woman loved
should be adorned in
When power was reached
in a cut-throat world
to place her where she should be

And now, I sit
in my quiet home
as elegant as every dream I own
but just as lonely
in my realization
having waited too long
for love

Mark, may I echo all the JM has said and add, please, surely it is never too late for love, it feels that way for me, as well, but I'm hoping it can come and find with me a place to dwell.

But, alas, I see the old saying, "the best laid plans of mice and men.

And as we run the race
we oft find the finish
anticlimatic for the pace

Enjoyed the read..and while I disagree that it is too late for anything.... the message was well delivered

Welcome Mark, very sincere poem from the heart, but I think in time you will find love and it will have been worth the wait, though it may seem like an eternity now. I wish you the best in your endeavors.

Welcome to Passions!    I liked how you handled these thoughts very much!  Sad but realistic!

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

While time indeed waits fr no oone, it also denys no opportunity. And it recognizes itself only as the present-seek to find.
