Regal Road

Queen Anne’s lace
and black eyes susans
decorate
the highway
dancing
as cars pass
true royalty
in it’s beauty
adorning
in freedom
for all
to see

I enjoy your travel images Helen...reminded me of my trip to Florida, and my astonishment that even the highways were pretty...would love to see more of these snapshots from you. and? "Queen Anne's Lace" is one of my faves, not just for the beauty of the bloom but the poetry of the name. Enjoyed.

read this again... and was reminded of how the wild flowers on side of gravel roads can be so much prettier than the gardens you see in many lawns...

Sorry H, and others, but I beg to differ . . .
In my line of work, QAL is a notorious and pernicious weed.  We wish it would go back to where it came from.
Another of its names is Devil's Plague, far more apt me thinks, for its destructive powers.
Now I suppose I should go ponder a response to this piece . . .probably have to post it in Dark . . .grrrrr
A weed by any other name . . .

I agree with JLR, only here in the South do you find the real true beauty of anything.
Even the weeds are prettier.
